Nuns on the Box

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

Would that be as in "Hawarden not your hearts..."

Ahem! Will let that slur on our language pass!
(Please remember, the evidence is that God speaks Welsh – possibly Cornish or Gaelic, although these two are less likely.)
The pronunciation is nearer to How-ar-den – with the first two syllabes almost run together.

Penarlâg is easier to say.

It was an interesting programme - thank you for drawing my attention to it. It brought home the difficulty of getting a group of people selected for some other consideration than their ability to sing to sing well.

Le Barroux is on my list of places I must visit, but it was the monks that draw me to it. It sounds a wonderful place.

Tomorrow I may well go looking for the cd. I would like to get our parish choir singing Adoro te devote like that, even if our present priest insists on "Godhead here in hiding" and wonders if a guitar and a couple of tambourines would liven it up a bit.

I wonder if the poor Clares would like to move to Ffynongroew, its much more fun to say, and not far from their present hangout.

Haven't seen it yet as I don't have TV – will watch tomorrow on iPlayer. But I know these sisters very well – I made a programme about them a few years ago when I was still with the BBC. These days, I consider them among my closest friends. In fact, I'm visiting them on Friday – to talk music.

I suspect you'd wouldn't persuade them to move. But if you're ever in their neck of the woods do call in. For an enclosed community they are incredibly welcoming.

To find out more about them, visit their website at: http://www.poorclarestmd.org

Nazard mentioned;
. . . our present priest insists on "Godhead here in hiding" and wonders if a guitar and a couple of tambourines would liven it up a bit.

I'd invite the local Iman along, he might have a bit more liturgical sensiticity than yer man there.

Give him a copy of Sibelius or FInale and ask him to get on with it!

Good thinking Nick.

O.T: I'm just playing with the trial version of Adobe Audition 3, it's mega good but I'm struggling to shift the purchase from level "want" to level "need".
No matter how many times I hit my internal "Justify" button it just won't go.

Beware! Beware! A big brown bear. Look out!
