New ICEL Translation: Glory to God in the highest

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

Although, of course, you still have to use the authorised translations! It's only when you wish to share music, freely or commercially, that permission is needed.

I sometimes wish I worshipped at St Kylie-at-the-River: They've yet to discover the present translation of Sanctus and look vague when words like "official" and "translation" are mentioned! :(

Southern Comfort wrote:The US publishers have to submit their music to BCDW [Bishops' Committee on Divine Worship] for the same kind of textual vetting as UK publishers to the Liturgy Office. It's an exact parallel.

The same discussion is taking place on a US-based website, prompted by the same composition. All around the blogosphere, people either don't realise they need copyright clearance for these texts or they object to it.

It amazes me that some people believe that, because you're publishing on the web, you're not breaking any rules. It's rather like the early days of plain paper copiers: "Well, if we weren't supposed to photocopy, they wouldn't have let us have one!" :?

Good news, Antoine.
May we ask, was the approval process as straightforward as it appears to be?
They certainly didn't keep you waiting for long.
