Presbyter, I never saw an animator on the screens nor through my binoculars. The directors (although I could only see one from my central position) were albed and therefore identifiable.
Whilst I am able to read music and therefore join in, those around me stared at me as though I were an alien being! I did appreciate that the Macmillan was rehearsed earlier by the choir but I am not sure that any around me were at all engaged in someone else's rehearsal.
I think your request to repeat some sections of the MacMillan gave it a chance so thanks for that. It's a bit like his St Anne Mass in which several users will add repeats to the Lamb of God. However to my memory the directions in Magnificat were misleading as to which parts the Assembly were to sing.
I did appreciate the difficulties which you articulate and particularly those regarding the coordination of disparate groups of musicians and would want to applaud the way it all came together so well.
