Michael Hutson is well regarded by colleagues whose judgment I respect north of the border and this leads me to believe this is an inspired choice for the Glasgow celebration.

More then anything, though, I can't help thinking that it's a sad reflection on the society we're living in, that this probably is the only sort of language which some of them understand.
Hmmm. "Government, police and technical people" tend to be quite practised at absorbing information and terminology. I'm afraid it does sound more like an attempt at gettin' down wiv da kidz.

Well, out of interest, I am allowed to say that the Director of Music at Cofton Park is a life member of this Society. I guess that means he must be getting on a bit now because the opportunity for life membership of the SSG finished decades ago, didn't it?

Which, I suspect, will carry on until the wee small hours, long after HH has departed. The inspired choice then will be which Single Malt to consume.
Presbyter, I think I'd prefer a malt in the wee small hours to the prospect of having to board a coach for Birmingham. I hope my fellow travellers do not snore or start rattling rosaries at such an unearthly hour.
A reputable commentator says that only 35,000 people will turn up to Cofton Park (partly because loads of older folk simply refuse to leave at 2.30am to get there...). If the estimated numbers continue to drop, the size of the choir will be significant in the overall figure.
I understand that they can walk to the Mass as a group, provided that they follow all the ID procedures etc. Same as everyone else but without the actual coach, apparently. So says a relative of mine who lives in the actual parish.
