summer school

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

summer school

Post by Mithras »

It was a great week! Many thanks to all who preprared and led the week. It was inspirational, an affirmation of what we try to do and an imperative to try to do more.

Thank you very much everybody. The Lord be with you - and with your spirits!

Hear hear! (Bis!)

Presumably this comment is only addressed to the clergy (plural) present?

It was my first Summer School - it was wonderful :D

Apart from all the "serious" things I have learned and experienced, I had never before
  • had "Happy Birthday sung to me so well
  • sung a piece in 27 parts
  • heard a contra-bass-clarinet
  • been in demand as a bongocero

Why didn't we get a printed copy of that new response in Welsh? I really need that for my parish. With such a fine translation available Paul, you should really have done the decent thing and shared it with us for posterity.

Or has is not got the official stamp on it yet?

Now would that be Oggie Oggie Oggie - and with your spirit?

Or the Llareggub quoted in a certain scurrilous rendition deriving from a Welsh Valley?

I wonder if anyone has spotted another interesting phenomenon: what happens at the Creed? After an invitation to proclaim our faith together, when people say "I believe" and "We believe" simultaneously, this will inevitably come out as "Why believe?" Hmmm!!!

May I add my plaudits to what was a splendid Summer School? A unique experience, I think. It was especially good to meet Tim Sharrock and other first-timers, too.

I enjoyed the summer school and only sorry I did not have chance to go into Whitby. Enjoyed where we were though and the company was very good.

As usual, the final concert was very entertaining.

One downside, at Mass on Sunday I stopped the first time we all said "and also ..." erm, and wondered if I should be saying "and with your spirit". Made me smile.

If anyone has photos taken during summer school, I'd be interested in seeing them for possible inclusion on the website and for other publicity. Please PM me for details of how to get in touch.
