Victorian Dad - New translations

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

Truth to tell, 1973/98 often brings to mind the great EJ Thribb (and sometimes his neighbour, JC Flannel).

I beg to differ, John. The referenced discussion (from Valle Adurni, via Fogeys' Daily and Pray, Sniff) is about a range of translations of the same stuff, touching on their accuracy and literary quality.

Paul Inwood's quote from my local ordinary

Another bishop - not so local - would say that we should conform ourselves to the liturgy and not vice versa...but what do I know? Oremus.

Not sure, John, but I hear EJ Thribb and JC Flannel have their submissions politely returned these days :-)
