Just a reminder to book your place for Summer School. Sneaton is a small venue and this year is already proving very popular.

Re: Summer School 2010
The Liturgy of the Church has a richness that can never be exhausted. This year’s Summer School provides participants with opportunities to explore this richness
That's what's advertised. So may I ask if participants will actually be celebrating the Liturgy of the Church each day - with its summit as the focus of each day - OR - will the focus of each day be something para-liturgical, leading up to something eucharistic to finish with - OR - what other possibilities might be being considered?

Please note that there are no en suite rooms available.
Also, please explain the mixed bathing facilities for those of us tempted to book.

Errrrr....... So who gets the en suite then?
St Francis House at the Centre has accommodation for 30 guests. All the rooms, awarded a Four Star rating by the Yorkshire Tourist Board, are en-suite......

St. Francis House is separate to the main accommodation at Sneaton and, though it can potentially accommodate 30, there are only 11 rooms including some family rooms. Two of the rooms are designated for disabled use, leaving 9 available en suite rooms. These are allocated to the leaders (a) because there simply aren't enough en suite rooms to advertise them as an option, and (b) because it makes it easier for the leaders to meet in the sitting room there early morning or late evening to plan or rethink plans during the week.
As for the mixed bathing, the main accommodation has bathrooms, showers and toilet facilities on each corrider and I don't think we've ever had any queues for the bathroom!
Sneaton Castle is a lovely venue (a favourite with our regulars), set high above Whitby with a splendid view of the ruined Abbey. The food is excellent home cooked fayre and there is a well stocked bar. We have use of the chapel which is beautiful in its simplicity and is a holy, peaceful place of worship. The Sisters of St. Hilda's Priory, which is based there, always offer us a warm welcome and join us for workshops and liturgies.
I know it's a long way from the Midlands, Presbyter , but it's definitely worth the trip, not least for the spectacular views as you drive across the moors.

The structure of the week is still in the planning stage, with Fr. Allen Morris and Catherine Christmas working hard on this, even as I write, I'm sure! We don't usually publish anything more than a timetable for the week, preferring to let the theme unfold during the week itself. However, I will ask whether our leaders want to (or are ready to) reveal anything more, especially if it might tempt you to come along!

Re: Summer School 2010
Lift wanted! Priest, travelling alone, who (due to a retreat) will be in Oxford on Sunday 1st August, seeks one-way lift to Sneaton Castle on August 2nd. Can anyone oblige (or know a non-web person who might?) - will pay fair share of petrol. Will not have net access after Wed 21 Jul due to retreat!
