This week we have celebrated Edith Stein and Clare of Assisi: the former yet another Patron of Europe, the latter, for some reason, not. If the number of Patrons of Europe continue along this exponential development, might we not have more Patrons than there are practising Catholics in Europe in twenty years time?
And then St Teresa Benedicta merits a feast (along with Lawrence the deacon) but Clare and Jane Frances de Chantel (tomorrow) are mere memoria. Then on Friday, Pontianus and Hippolytus (of EPII fame) are optional but in Warwickshire, Bl William Freeman is yet another choice.
Then on Saturday, we are obliged to celebrate a memoria of Maximilian Kolbe .
Questions:
i) which readings at Mass will you choose? (remembering there's a clash that even the revised GIRM2002 has not sorted out with the GI on the Lectionary - as to which weekday readings should be chosen.)
ii) do you think we are heading now for a pre-Vat II clogging up of the daily calendar?
I only ask!

Yes, it has been aired a couple of times. It is part of the reason for the development of the Calendar part of the Liturgy Office website - though details of OT weekdays and Proper of Saints is definitely stage 3 to note your original query.
