New Archbishop of Birmingham

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

New Archbishop of Birmingham

Lucky Birmingham! Bishop Longley is a charming man who always remembers names and thanks everyone for helping. We will miss him in Westminster. Best of all he can sing and in his interview http://vimeo.com/6834705 remarked that he is looking out for a good accompanist in Birmingham so he can do some singing! An inspired choice!

one notes the qualification good. That let's me out of a few trips to Archbishop's House then.

What a shame! Of course, if he'd said he was looking out for a great accompanist, you'd have worn yourself to a shred going back and forth. ;-)

presbyter is Gerald Moore! (His secret is safe with us.)

Now, can anyone who knows him tell us more about +Bernard, with reference to this forum's particular interests - i.e. pastoral music and liturgy?

I see from my copy of Sing the Mass that he has had some music published.

I think you will find that you are referring to Bernard Langley, not Bernard Longley, the Archbp Elect - before anyone gets too thrilled by this. :)

This is correct. Bernard Langley is (or was) a composer from South Africa, I believe.
