hymn / song search
Hi all,
Have to play for funeral on Tuesday and the family have requested a song with the title 'You are my world' - the only source I have found for this is on YouTube by the Hillsong team / Darlene Zschech
I'm not familiar with it (not that that is the problem) - anybody know it, use it or know where the music can be got?

I'm not familiar with it either, but it looks like you can buy the music digitally at musicnotes.com

The one that immediately came to mind was the Cilla Black 60s "You're My World". It could fit for a funeral if it is a husband or wife.
You may need to clarify what exactly they are asking for.

Can I presume your tongue is firmly in your cheek? Still, recently we had a request, for a Golden Wedding Mass, to include Cabaret (yes, as sung by the divine Liza) as, the husband earnestly explained to me, it perfectly captured their marriage! Needless to say, I declined but as they entered the parish club for the post-Mass bash, we'd played it very loudly and all present joined in with gusto. (Why was I the only one who knew all the verses?) It was a case of, as my PP puts it on these occasions, "Our celebration is ended – let the celebration continue".

Thanks all - It turns out that it is indeed the Cilla black version - and I downloaded it from musicnotes.com. Incidentally, that is a good site for material like this. I've used it many times (the site!).
How it's going to sound on an organ is quite another matter!
Fingers crossed!!!
Thanks for feedback.

Ah, I know it; it's the one that sings of the tactile vibration created by a celesatial chainsaw iirc.
Re: hymn / song search
Not a religious song but much better than some I have heard at funerals!
You‘re my world, you‘re every breath I take
You‘re my world, you're every move I make
Other eyes see the stars up in the skies
But for me they shine within your eyes
As the trees reach for the sun above
So my arms reach out to you for love
With your hand resting in mine
I feel a power so divine
You‘re my world, you are my night and day
You‘re my world, you‘re every prayer I pray
If our love ceases to be
Then it‘s the end of my world for me
With your hand resting in mine
I feel a power so divine
You're my world, you are my night and day
You're my world, you're every prayer I pray
If our love ceases to be
Then it's the end of my world
End of my world
End of my world for me
Bit worrying about the 'End of my world' part.
The ongoing debate about usage of non-religious songs at funerals will go on and on but much better to get the correct song rather than play a potentially happy clappy California toon - maybe unfair as I have not heard the one you found on YouTube.

As long as you have a 16' tuba for the famous Cilla honk – "with your hand" – you'll be fine!

Not a debate for this thread, but I at Summer School this sort of thing was described as (If I remember correctly) "The tension between liturgical rigorism and client centered laxity".

Actually Nick, it wasn't. I didn't say I agreed with it being used in a church but with the words and sentiments expressed in the song did think it could well be what they wanted. Turned out I was right!

With you now, O fairest of SOPs.
And I still think you look great in the frock!
