I think Benvenio has raised a very interesting issue; one that I do not recall having been aired on here before.

We sang it from Laudate, where the pew edition prints the three English verses followed by a Welsh translation. Afterwards, someone asked me why we had only sung the first three verses.

Until you read the other things men are deemed to like and you begin to see a slightly more sinister approach to this survey. There is no evidence in the report about what pursuits the sampled men were given to choose from.

Which, therefore, tells you nothing about the men but the effect this item has on people.

Perhaps the survey should have asked which hymns "people" prefer to sing instead of perpetuating sexist myths. (Which, of course, suits the Daily Mail's rather frightening agenda.)
