To be a pilgrim

I am leading a spirituality day on August 5 on this theme and would welcome ideas of texts and music. Interesting that the word pilgrim is only mentioned in the Bible 3 times! But the Bible is full of journeys! I'm also planning to widen things by mentioning other faiths and ancient pilgrimages e.g. Stonehenge and Scara Brae!

I don't know if you mean hymn possibilities, but how about, 'Guide me, O thou Great Redeemer,' 'Be not afraid,' and ' 'Tho' the mountains may fall.' The round version of 'By the waters of Babylon' may work in this kind of event too.

Thanks for the suggestions. This is a day when we will not be singing anything - rather being quiet and thinking a lot. However I think some hymn texts make excellent meditation material. Will you let me be your servant is certainly about pilgrimage. To be a pilgrim. Through the night of doubt and sorrow. The pilgrimage psalms which they sanga s they arrived in Jerusalem and Our Lord sang himself on the night of his passion.

Yes, if you google "Processional Psalms" you will get many hits related to the psalms used for pilgrimages to Jerusalem and settings thereof.
