Re: Hymns for Confirmation?

Have you tried Dave Wellington's Send us the rain Lord and Mike Stanley's Like the Dewfall which both went down well in our parish.

Re: Mass translation may be revised?

I have a feeling I may be being even more mischievous that Incense Tom but when will it be time to change the Latin to match our translation . I quite like the sound of Credimus in unum Deum parentum. Maybe I have to much time on my hands.

Re: Cardinal Sarah

I too am delighted with the Cardinal's reply. As I was brought up to believe that Christ is present in the Priest, I cannot believe that Jesus would choose to turn his back on his people, and remember loving the change when it happened. Yes I am that old.

Re: How accessible is your church?

I am proud to say that our Church in Dartford is very accessible with excellent wide doors and a properly fitted disabled toilet. The difficulty is that having got into the church there is really is nowhere where someone can sit in a wheelchair next to a companion with out blocking an aisle. When my ...

Re: Proclaim 15

Not quite on topic but almost - Is there any driver who would like to attend the event in Birmingham who would be able to drive a minibus from East London leaving on Friday about 2pm coming back on Saturday late. Please let me know if you can.

Re: Hymn to St Stephen

Abbots Leigh would also be good for us. I want to find the tune most people will know. If any one is attending the Altar Servers Mass on Monday 4th at Ayelsford and likes singing do come and say hallo. The more voices the merrier.

Re: Hymn to St Stephen

Thank you John, that works nicely for our singers. And yes, it is the Mass at Aylesford on Monday. Am praying for good weather on a bank holiday Monday. Is that asking for too much?

Hymn to St Stephen

Can anyone help me with the tune that is most commonly used for the hymn to St Stephen: Holy Stephen, Christ's dear martyr, First to shed thy blood for Him....." Our group is playing at a mass for the Guild of St Stephen and while it fits a lot of well known tunes, I would like to use a definitive ...

Re: Palm Sunday for guitars and flute

TIm Hughes - Here I am to worship Very difficult to see what this song has to do with Palm Sunday..... I think that the singers found inspiration after reading the Passion and the Second reading and thought the words particularly of the second verse were appropriate : "King of all Kings Oh so ...

Re: Eulogies

I had an intense discussioin with both our priests today who were in disagreement over this issue. My PP is adamant that after some bad experiences he wants to insist that the Eulogy comes at the beginning so that he can redress any "issues" arising from this in the sermon. In a previous parish he ...

Re: Congregational singing of hymns

Thank you for these responses. I think I have to pick up the courage and just do it. The organist at church is very reluctant to keep things simple as she says people get bored. I think she means we singers. How long can you maintain a simple chant without breaking into parts or inserting verses? I ...

Re: Congregational singing of hymns

After years of knocking my head against the proverbial baked clay superstructure, I too had a breakthrough with communion processionals recently. Perhaps we expect too much, too soon. Your bunch have now accepted singing as they move. A huge step in more ways than one! Can you give examples of ...
