I presume the Composer's Guide says 'or adapted' because the Lectionary says' one or other of the following phrases may be used, or another similar phrase'.
The Latin Lectionary Ordo gives 8 short Latin acclamations.

Re: The New Texts: Formation (discussion)
http://www.liturgyoffice.org.uk/Missal/Resources/Resources.pdf These items are imminent, I understand, and if I remember correctly, a dedicated web domain is on the horizon - http://www.missal.org.uk Click on that at the moment and it goes to the Liturgy Office site. I am sure the vast staff of the ...

Re: Lamb of God/Jesus Lamb of God
The issue therefore is this: at this point in time , the texts we are talking about are still permitted, and therefore the approval panel has no basis on which to withhold approval of settings of such texts. When the Missal eventually appears, that situation could of course change. My understanding ...

Re: Lamb of God/Jesus Lamb of God
There seem to be a number of issues in this conversation. I suggest that SC might wish to consider the Order of Christian Funerals. He will note that the Decree is an act of the Bishops' Conference President not an act of the Conference. I would also note it says no previous versions may be used ...

Re: Revised Grail Psalms
They have not had the Grail psalter approved for liturgical use before. I had always understood that US had used Grail psalms in the Office and they are permitted for use at Mass. The bishops of this country may or may not decide to approve the use of the new Grail version in preference to the one ...

Re: Advent music choices
Unlike John SC's view has my sympathy. To return to the original question is it an abuse to recommend or use 'O come, O come Emmanuel' on the First Sunday of Advent - definitely not. Is it a good thing to use on that Sunday - possibly. Yes, it can reflect themes in the readings; no, custom retains ...

Re: Newman Mass
Boosey & Hawkes are planning to publish it in Spring 2011 so that it can 'catch the market' for the new translation due, I think (at least in theory), in Advent 2011. Presumably the date of when settings of the new translation may be published will be apply to all publishers not just Boosey and ...

The rehearsal of MacMillan Sanctus at Cofton Park can be clearly heard in the first few minutes of BBC R4 Sunday. A bit later you get Surrexit Christus

Re: Papal Visit
Being in the congregation for this morning's Mass - some comments/thoughts. Overall it was very moving, and what may seem odd at first is there were times when I forgot the Pope was there - it was the Mass that was important. James MacMillan's Tu es Petrus was thrilling. I'm not sure how came across ...

Re: Feasts that displace the Sunday Mass
The Lectionary, as is usually the case, prints the full version and the shorter version separately. One trusts that priests were reading from Lectionary or Book of the Gospels rather than a Missalette

Re: Church Anniversary
My reading of the Table of Liturgical Days in the General Norms for the Liturgical Calendar (pdf) when governs the precedence when there is a choice of celebration suggest that the Mass texts are those of the Anniversary of Dedication rather than St Andrew: 4. Proper Solemnities, namely: a) The ...

Re: Teaching the new Mass settings (including MacMillan)
My information is that ICEL has seen the text for the USA, which presumably means that the US BCDW has also seen it. Without wishing to repeat my previous post. I understand that ICEL and US BCDW are looking at the text of one of presentation copies of the Missal presented to members of Vox Clara ...

Re: Teaching the new Mass settings (including MacMillan)
As I understand it no Bishops' Conference has yet received the text of Missal with recognitio back from Rome. What has been seen are the presentation copies given to members of Vox Clara at its meeting in April. Having seen one of these presentation copies I can confirm that there are changes (it ...

Re: Rimsky-Korsakov Our Father
SC may know the answer to this question - or at least confirm my speculation. Leaving aside whether anyone has seen an original Rimsky-Korsakov version of the piece - I doubt he wrote it in Latin, English or Dutch. Am I right in my assumption that the arrangement was originally French? by Gelineau ...
