Re: Special ascii characters useful to musicians & liturgists

Southern Comfort wrote:You can save yourself one keystroke by using the original ASCII character set:
Alt+130 gives é
Alt+138 gives è

That's four keystrokes!
The Mac version (alt+e+e) is three! :D

And don't forget those of us who still haven't quite worked out how to switch on a PC! (Dratted things!) :(

Southern Comfort wrote:Only on a Mac, I suspect.

Nope, even a PC should be capable of these basic functions. The code system is only really needed for the more unusual diacritical marks – if, for example, you're setting the Gloria in Czech.

Re: Swine flu

Big change in Liverpool archdiocese from today: Diktat from the Arch banning Sign of Peace, water stoops and Communion from the chalice. Alternatives to the Sign of Peace – nodding the head, for example – also banned for fear of confusion and inconsistency. Apparently it's still OK to pass round the ...

Re: Parish music workshop in Liverpool

If anyone wishes to join us just for the afternoon – singing the psalms – that begins around 12.45pm.

Re: What are they up to?

I must apologize for my delay in thanking Merseysider for his charitable reply to my somewhat curmudgeonly post a few days ago. Dear Mancunian, There is no need to apologise – I expect we are all both charitable and curmudgeonly on here at times. The problem is that it's so difficult to hear the t ...
