Re: Meatless Fridays

There are stories (apochryphal no doubt, but may be a revelation) that beavers were defined as fish at one time in N America (for the purposes of abstinence). If this were reintroduced/made compulsory it would be high impact on both the environment and my lifestyle.

So what is the minimum required?

I am not actually arguing for the minimum except in terms of introducing too much at once on 1st Sunday of Advent 2011.
It seems to me that in our parish, with the local compositional talent, we could (not should) use any of our current Lord Have Mercy/Kyrie & Lamb of God unchanged, also with a ...

Re: Believing in the new translation

Of course it is for us to question the docs. The normal result of being angry about something and suppressing it is depression. I forsee a depression spreading unless we do what is recommended psychologically, and air the problem clearly. You may be replaceable, and I am, but the church will be more ...

would give you an idea of how it sounds (after 25 seconds intro)

Re: The New Texts: A Seminar for Composers

Of course there is also the matter of resources. Decani are apparently updating Laudate, but I can't see our church replacing the existing versions in a hurry. So, for new stuff) we will be left with sheets (probably illegal unless ICEL waives copyright - some hope this!) or the existing repertoire ...

Re: Relative importance of feasts

In our Parish Liturgy Group I proposed that since Ascension/Pentecost/Trinity/CorpusChristi are now in a block and FHC day "has to come in time for the new white frocks in the Corpus Christi procession" we should fix FHC day on one of the days, for considered Liturgical or Theological reasons. This ...
